"Cavalry Supercross" - AKA “ The Shockwave of Sri Lankan Motorcross”: the mega event of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC), which collects the island’s cream of drivers and riders for a Challenging Rival of Furious got underway at the Cavalry Motordrome, Pangolla on Sunday (8) amid a record gathering of spectators and motor fans.
A highlight in Sri Lanka’s motor racing calendar, the event flagged off in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR), featuring the island’s finest drivers and riders in action. Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayaka graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and was warmly welcomed by the Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage,Commander, Security Force Headquarter (West) / Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on arrival at the venue.
Sri Lanka Army Drivers and Riders in group Car, truck and jeep events and motorcycle (250 cc & 105 cc) events showed their colours, posing a challenge to all other competitors in the civil sector.Private Buddika Silva of Sri Lanka Signal Corps in a convincing victory clinched the Best Rider trophy of the Cavalry Supercross - 2018, sending shock waves among all contenders, while Ashan Silva crowned as the best Driver. Commander of the Army presented the main trophies to the Best Rider and the Driver. Colonel Commandant SLAC, together distributed trophies and certificates to the winners after the day’s exciting crowd-puller.A large gathering of Army Senior Officers witnessed all events in the ‘Supercross'.
