Sri Lanka Armoured Corps celebrated its 62nd Anniversary on grand scale at “Home of Armour”, Rock House Camp on 15 December 2017.
Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps graced the occasion as the chief guest. He was honoured with a Guard Turnout at the entrance followed by an Inspection Parade. The Colonel Commandant gave away the trophies to the Commanding Officers who lead their Regiment to be emerged as excellent in Administration & Logistics, Sports and Best of all.
5th Reconnaissance Regiment won the Brig J Jayasuriya USP psc Challenging Trophy for the best in sport in the year 2017. 4 Armoured Regiment won both Maj Gen N A Ranasinghe RSP USP psc Challenging trophy for best Administration and General Deshamanya Sepala Attygalle Memorial Trophy for the most Outstanding Regiment in year 2017.
The Armour Ladies Club donated medical aid and essential items among disable soldiers and also school books among the children of cavalry families.
Drill display and band display performed by cavalrymen attracted the audience and they added an extra colorfulness to the event. Further, number of games and entertainment programmes arranged for the kids and adults made everyone happy in this memorable day.
Many Senior Officers; both serving and retired Officers with their spouses and Other Ranks with their family members witnessed the occasion.
