CAVALRY FAMILY BID ADIEU TO MAJOR GENERAL B A PERERA RSP USP ndc psc
Major General B A Perera RSP USP ndc psc, former Director General General Staff of the Army and a Senior Council member of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps retired from the Army with effect from 21st November 2016.
Sri Lanka Armoured Corps held a Farewell Parade followed with a formal Dinner Night on Monday, 21st November 2016 to mark the event while giving a big salute to the senior Cavalrymen for his dedicated service rendered to the Sri Lanka Army and the Nation.
As customary commencing the day’s programme, Major General B A Perera was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel R R M P N B Bambaradeniye RWP RSP USP psc, Commanding Officer of 1st Reconnaissance Regiment at the entrance to the Mahapola Parade Ground before presenting the Guard Tournout.
Thereafter a colourful parade commanded by the Lieutenant Colonel B Y Nanayakkara RSP psc, Commanding Officer of 6 (Rft) Regiment Sri Lanka Armoured Corps ushered the General in front of a colossal gathering. The parade was accorded to Major General B A Perera in honour of his more than 35 years of service in the Army as a stylish Cavalryman. An all ranks tea party was held ending day’s event.
Major General and Mrs B A Perera were cordially welcomed by the Major General Ubaya Medawela, Chief of Staff of the Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps at the Cavalry Officers’ Mess commencing the dinner night formalities. Council members, senior officers and officers of the Corps with their beloved wives attended the dinner night. The event culminated with Major General Perera bidding farewell to Armoured Corps.
