MAJOR GENERAL M P PEIRIS ASSUMES DUTIES AS THE NEW COLONEL COMMANDANT
Major General MP Peiris RWP RSP USP ndc psc,Vice Chancellor of the prestigious Kotelawala Defence University assumed duties as the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on 16 August 2013.\r\n\r\nMajor GeneralA MP Peiris RWP RSP USP ndc psc on his arrival to the Home of Armour was received by Brigadier NI De Silva RSP the Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and reviewed a guard turn out and accompanied to the office. Later he took over the duties as the 8th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on the auspicious time amidst Pirith Chanting by Maha Sangha.\r\n\r\n\r\nA parade comprised of Standards, Officers, Men and Armoured Vehicles of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps which was commanded by Lt Col WP Kariyawsam accorded to the new Colonel Commandant added more colour and honour to the day\'s events.\r\n\r\nAfterward he attended to a tree planting ceremony, tea with all ranks followed by officers address. During his address he appreciated the yeoman service rendered by past Colonel Commandants to the Corps and stressed upon discipline, professionalism, Espirit de Corps, contribution to nation building, taking care of NOKs of KIA, WIA and serving soldiers and many other aspects require to uplift the standards of the corps.\r\n\r\nMajor General MA Perera RWP RSP psc along with other Council Members and many Officers and men of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps attended the occasion.\r\n
