The 32nd death anniversary of Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa was commemorated on 8 August 2024 amid military honours accorded at the General’s statue in the heart of Anuradhapura town. The main ceremony commenced soon after the arrival of the Chief Guest, Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Commander - Security Forces (West) and the Colonel Commandant SLAC.
The day’s programme lined up with religious observances, vigil mount, a two-minute silence, reading commemoration note, wreath-laying, and sounding of the Last Post and the Reveille.
Mrs Lali Kobbekaduwa with family members, General Officer Commanding of 64, 21 and 22 Infantry Divisions, Senior Deputy Inspector General - North Central Province, Senior Officers, Officers of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and Other Ranks joined the commemoration ceremony.
