A special Mass to invoke blessings to SLAC coinciding its forthcoming 68th Anniversary was held at St Andrew's Church Mutwal on 11 December 2023. Religious observances started with the arrival of the Military Secretary and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, as the Chief Guest together with Centre Commandant Brigadier P N Wijesiriwardena RSP USP and Commander Armoured Brigade, Brigadier L K T Fernando RSP USP.
The special Mass and Thanksgiving service was solemnised after an introduction delivered on the occasion by Parish Priest Reverend Father Teshan Priyadarshana. At the outset, all the units’ flags were symbolically blessed. The reverend father thereafter extended blessings to the Corps, as a recognition of the commitment to the country. The Holy Mass prayed for the souls of fallen War Heroes and those who went missing in action, injured War Heroes and simultaneously invoked blessings on all Ranks, those who are retired/serving and members of their families.
Maj Gen PR Pathiravithana USAWC psc, Brig WASR Wijedasa WWV RSP USP ndc psc and a number of senior officers along with a cross section of other ranks attended the event.
