NEW COLONEL COMMANDANT SLAC ASSUMES DUTIES

Major General A L P S Tillekerathna RWP RSP USP psc took office as the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on Monday (01) at the Regimental Centre SLAC.

New Colonel Commandant was warmly received by Brigadier M S Devappriya USP Centre Commandant Sri lanka Armoured Corps and Lt Col S J Samarasinghe psc Commanding Officer 1 SLAC at the Main Entrance with a Guard Turnout.

Major General Prathap Tillekerathna assumed duties with a brief religious performance followed by lighting of the traditional oil lamp in the presence of Council Members and Commanding Officers.

Setting out his scope of work, Major General Prathap Tillekerathna addressed Officers and Other Ranks and afterwards, he planted a ‘Sandun’ sapling in the premises as a symbol of memory and joined an all Rank tea arranged at the Troopers’ Mess.

Later, he addressed Officers and outlined the importance of cohesion among officers for the betterment of the corps while maintaining the high standards which have been maintained over the time.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were presented during the brief ceremony.
