Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc assumed duties as the 14th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps amidst religious blessings at the Regimental Centre on 07 June 2023.
Commencing the day’s programme, newly appointed Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of 1st Reconnaissance Regiment at the entrance to the Home of Armour prior to inspect the Guard Turnout.
Subsequently, Guard of Honour was accorded in order to felicitate being appointed as the Colonel Commandant and he officially assumed duties as the Colonel Commandant at his office with the presence of beloved family members and Council Members.
He planted a ‘Mango’ sapling as a symbol of memory and afterwards, setting out his scope of work, Major General Mahendra Fernando addressed Other Ranks.
After the All Ranks tea, with the introduction of Center Commandant he addressed regimental Officers outlining the importance of professionalism and Esprit de Corps while maintaining the high standard of discipline which have been maintained over the time.
