INTER REGIMENT SWIMMING AND WATER POLO CHAMPIONSHIP -2024

Cavalry Swimmers clinched the 2nd place of the Army Inter Regiment Swimming championship (Novices) - 2024. Further S/112669 Tpr Kumarasingha SDDL 4 Armoured Regiment became the ‘Best Swimmer’ and owned Gold medals for 400m, 200m and 100m freestyle events.

The finals and the prize-awarding ceremony of the Army Inter Regiment Swimming and Water Polo Championship unfolded on 03 April 2024 at APTS Swimming Pool Complex, Panagoda.

The final events were graced by Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Comd SF(West) and the Col Comdt SLAC as the Chief Guest. Three-day Swimming championship was comprised with 254 male and female swimmers of the Sri Lanka Army representing 13 Regiments under novices’ and open categories.

Further, the Inter Regiment Water Polo Competition was held concurrently and was competed by 8 Regimental teams under open and novice categories.

To mark the end of the sporting event, Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Comd SF(West) and the Col Comdt SLAC extended best wishes to the players and gave away trophies and certificates to the achievers.
