THE INTELLECTUAL VOYAGE OF 1 SLAC: "FUTURE FORGE" ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM AND DINERS' CLUB

On 8 February 2024, 1 SLAC held the unit symposium titled "Indian Ocean Region in the 21st Century: Power Balance and Impact on Sri Lanka* convened to address the multifaceted significance of the Indian Ocean region and Sri Lanka.

Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Commander of Security Forces (West) and the Colonel Commandant SLAC graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, Senior Officers and Officers who participated were provided insights into maritime security challenges and opportunities in the Indian Ocean and highlighted the economic potential of maritime trade and investment in the region.

Dr. Sanath De Silva the Head of Department, Faculty of Defence & Strategic Studies, KDU expanded his horizon of knowledge at Diners' Club on most relevant topic of *Emerging Nuclear Second Strike Capabilities of Indian Ocean States and Their Regional Implications*, who is an expert in international relations, discussed the valuable insights on the topic.

Overall, the symposium served as a platform for fruitful discussions and knowledge exchange on the Indian Ocean Region and Impact on Sri Lanka. This event is successfully unfolded by the all officers of 1 SLAC under the guidance of The Commanding Officer of 1st Reconnaissance Regiment Lt Col R K K Paragahathanthree psc.

As the event unfurled its final flag, the 1st Reconnaissance Regiment showcased excellence once more, marking yet another triumph in their illustrious journey.
