On September 9, 2024, the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and General Officer Commanding 64 Infantry Division, Major General MS Devapriya USP ndc, made his inaugural official visit to the 4 Armoured Regiment.
Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel GIDD Dharmaratne RSP USP USACGSC, the Commanding Officer of the 4 Armoured Regiment. He was then greeted with a Guard Turnout at the entrance, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony to honour fallen War Heroes.
During his visit, he planted a sapling at the camp and posed for a group photograph with Officers and Other Ranks to commemorate his visit to the 4 AR. The Colonel Commandant also attended a detailed briefing from the Commanding Officer, which was followed by an inspection of the camp premises. A tea gathering for all ranks took place at the Corporals’ Club, followed by a troop address at the newly constructed Auditorium.
During his address, the Colonel Commandant emphasised the importance of strong leadership and command. He underscored the significance of professionalism in the military, achievable only through consistent training and discipline. Additionally, the Colonel Commandant encouraged the soldiers to enhance their skills and participation in sports.
The day's simple itinerary concluded with lunch at the Officers’ Mess, where the Colonel Commandant left remarks in the Visitors Book before his departure. He was accompanied throughout the visit by Brig A P C R Prematilaka RSP USP ndc, Centre Commandant of the Regimental Centre SLAC, and Brig A A D P Kulathilaka USP ndc psc, Commander Armoured Brigade.
