INAUGURAL VISIT BY THE NEWLY APPOINTED COLONEL COMMANDANT TO THE 3 ARMOURED REGIMENT

On 28 September 2024, the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and General Officer Commanding 64 Infantry Division, Major General M S Devapriya USP ndc, visited the 3rd Armoured Regiment. He was accompanied by Brigadier A P C R Prematilaka RSP USP ndc, Centre Commandant of the SLAC, and Brigadier A A D P Kulathilaka USP ndc psc, Commander of the Armoured Brigade.

Upon his arrival, he made his way to the SLAC War Heroes Monument and placed floral wreaths to honour the fallen war heroes, followed by a warm welcome from the Commanding Officer of the 3rd Armoured Regiment. He was then greeted with a Guard Turnout at the entrance and laid a floral tribute at the Regiment Monument to commemorate the fallen War Heroes.

During his visit, he planted a sapling at the camp and posed for a group photograph with officers and other ranks to commemorate his visit to the 3 AR. The Colonel Commandant also attended a detailed briefing from the Commanding Officer, followed by the Colonel Commandant’s address to all officers. Then he inspected the camp premises and addressed the troops, emphasizing the importance of customs, traditions, financial management, and upholding the values of a soldier.

The day's simple itinerary concluded with lunch at the Officers’ Mess, where the Colonel Commandant left remarks in the Visitors Book before his departure.
