On 7 August 2024, Lt Col G I D D Dharmaratne RSP USP USACGSC assumed duties as the 20th Commanding Officer of the prestigious 4 Armoured Regiment, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps. The formal military ceremony included a Guard Turnout to welcome the newly appointed Commanding Officer, who officially took over by signing an official document amidst religious observances.
As part of the ceremony, Lt Col Dilan Dharmaratne planted a sapling within the camp premises and addressed the troops. The Officers and Other Ranks of the regiment extended their warm wishes to him for his future endeavours.
On 6 August 2024, a farewell ceremony was held at the 4 Armoured Regiment to bid farewell to the outgoing Commanding Officer, Lt Col D M V M R Dissanayaka RWP RSP psc. Following military tradition, Lt Col Venura Dissanayaka handed over his duties after completing a distinguished tenure of 1 year and 4 months. The farewell ceremony included a Guard Turnout and a Ceremonial Parade to honour his outstanding service.
During the event, Lt Col Venura Dissanayaka addressed the troops and participated in a group photograph. The ceremony concluded with an All-ranks tea, marking the end of Lt Col Venura Dissanayaka's tenure as Commanding Officer of the 4 Armoured Regiment, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
