The Military Secretary and the 14th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc made his maiden official visit as the Colonel Commandant to the Armoured Corps Training Centre and 3 Armoured Regiment on 09 August 2023. He was accompanied by Brig W P Kariyawasam, the Commander Armoured Brigade and Brig P N Wijesiriwardena RSP USP, the Centre Commandant, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
During the visit, Colonel Commandant specially inspected the security standard of the armoury, the standard of the main kitchen, ration stores and the ACTC simulator building. He opened the newly constructed fully fledged Administration Office Complex which will facilitate very smooth function of training and administrative aspects at the ACTC.
In his troop address, Colonel Commandant emphasized the importance of maintaining a high standard of discipline as individuals and the importance of being an instructor. Further, he highlighted that the AWOL rate decreases at present comparatively first half of the year. Moreover, at the conclusion, Colonel Commandant edified the value of military service.
Finally, the award for the best cook of the ACTC for year 2023 was presented by the Colonel Commandant and laid the foundation stone for WOs’ and Sgts’ Mess prefabricated building at 3 SLAC.
