The Military Secretary and the 14th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc made his first official unit visit to 5 Reconnaissance Regiment and 7(V) Regiment on 29 July 2023. He was accompanied by Brig W P Kariyawasam the Commander Armoured Brigade and Brig P N Wijesiriwardena RSP USP the Centre Commandant, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
During the visit, Colonel Commandant specially inspects the security standards of armouries and ammo dumps of both regiments.
In his troop address, Colonel Commandant emphasized the importance of maintaining a high standard of discipline as individuals. Moreover, he highlighted the present tendency of drug addiction and increased AWOL rate in the military and educated all troops not to get involved in such cases. Further, at the conclusion Colonel Commandant edified the value of military service.
