The Military Secretary and the 14th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc made his inaugural visit to the 1st Reconnaissance Regiment as the Colonel Commandant on 18 October 2023. He was accompanied by Brig P N Wijesiriwardena RSP USP, the Centre Commandant, Regimental Centre SLAC and Brig L K T Fernando RSP USP, Commander Armoured Brigade.
During the visit, the Colonel Commandant specially inspects the security standard of the armoury. Further, during the officers' address, he emphasised the strategic importance of the Regiment along with the fleet, the importance of maintaining absolute discipline and the importance of being an example to the Other Ranks. Further, the Colonel Commandant edifies the officers to be aware of the latest Army Orders and criteria published by the Army Headquarters on officers' career progression. In his troop address, he emphasized the importance of maintaining a high standard of discipline as individuals and he edified the value of military service.
