ARMOURED CORPS PAYS RICH TRIBUTE TO MAJOR GENERAL UBAYA MEDAWELA

Major General Ubaya Medawela, Chief of Staff of the Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps retired from the Army on 2nd December 2016 after serving for more the 35 years. A charm ceremony was held at the Rock House Camp premises on 2nd December 2016 bidding farewell to senior cavalrymen in respect of his invaluable service to the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and to the Sri Lanka Army.

Major General U A B Medawela RSP VSV USP ndu psc was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel R R M P N B Bambaradeniya RWP RSP USP psc, Commanding Officer of the 1st Reconnaissance Regiment SLAC on his arrival to the Home of Armour and was accorded with a Guard Turnout. Thereafter, Major General Ubaya Medawela officially handed over duties as the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and an All Ranks Tea was held with the participation of Officers and Other Ranks. The event culminated with a street lining given to Major General Ubaya Medawela with farewell bids Jaya Sri before he departed from the Rock House Camp as the outgoing Colonel Commandant on a Saladin Armoured Car.
