Armoured Corps 59th Anniversary Celebrations Begin!

Written By : Lt Col Anton Wijesekara RSP psc - SLAC\r\n\r\nThe Sri Lanka Armoured Corps will celebrate its 59th Anniversary on the 15th of December 2014. Giving pride of place to religious activities, the celebrations commenced with an all-night Pirith chanting under the patronage of the Maha Sanga. The members of the Maha Sanga led by the Chief incumbent of the Historic Dhawalasinharama temple in Modhara; Venerable Waskaduwe Sirirathana thera chanted Seth Pirith to invoke blessings on the Corps and the war heroes of the Corps who paid the supreme sacrifice to protect our nation. Heela Danaya was offered to 15 monks at the end of the Pirith ceremony. \r\n\r\nThe Colonel Commandant of the Armoured Corps Major General M P Peiris RWP RSP USP ndc psc, retired and serving senior officers of the Corps, their spouses, officers, other ranks and a large number of kith and kin of fallen war heroes were present during the ceremony.\r\n
