ARMOUR LADIES CLUB'S VISIT OF “ABIMANSALA III”

Armour Ladies Club (ALC) visited the 'Abimansala III" accompanied by number of popular artists on 15 August 2020, a wellness resort located in Pangolla-Kurunegala where disabled soldiers of Sri Lanka Army who were wounded-in-action (WIA) are being looked after for their life time. This visit marks as the first official visit of “Abimansala III” by any group after Covid-19 pandemic spread, due to which all visits were suspended. The President of ALC, Mrs. Piumali Thillekerathne and members of ALC welcomed by inmates on their arrival.

ALC launched this event to make them feel that they are not forgotten or alone. The event was started with the ward visit of ALC Officials along with popular artists who graced the occasion, and they inquired about the wellness of the inmates and presented gifts for each and every one of them. Rest of the programme was commenced with tea and followed up with entertainment session conducted by the artists.

Organied and invited by the President of ALC, number of popular artists of Sri Lanka, such as Mrs. Nilmini Kottegoda, Mrs. Anjali Liyanage, Mr. Tharindu Perera, Mr. Ishan Mendis, Ms. Tanasha, Ms. Gaya Krishani, Ms Sudarshi Galanigama, Mr. Dew Surendra, Mr.Chamara and Mr. Isuru Lokuhettiarachchi joined this noble cause voluntarily. Uniqness of the event was further enhanced with the donation of a band equipment which has been a much sorted after requirement to raise a musical group in “Abimansala III”.

Colonel Commandant Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and General Officer Commanding 12 Division, Major General A L P S Tillekerathne RWP RSP USP psc, Commander 583 Brigade - Brigadier G D Sooriyabandara USP, Centre Commandant of SLAC Brigadier M S Devapriya USP and CO 5 SLAC were among the special invitees. An inmate, an officer, paid their gratitude to ALC for this kind gesture in his Vote of Thanks. The Commandant of "Abimansala III", Col A H Wijegunawardane RSP was instrumental in proper coordination and success of the event.
