8 ( Rft) Regiment Sri Lanka Armoured Corps celebrated its 14th anniversary on 30 July 2012. Before the day of anniversary, religious ceremony was conducted in Pillewa Temple at Borelesgamuwa on 28 July 2012 and alms giving for Maha Sangha on following day remembering the fallen heroes and to extend the blessings for the Regiment.
After then 14 fallen war heroes of the Regiment who made their supreme sacrifice were remembered with presenting special plaques to their Next of Kins. Few scholarships for children of soldiers also were presented as a part of the event.
On the anniversary day the Commanding Officer of the Regiment, Lt Col P A M Peiris psc was accorded with a Guard Turnout at Rock House Camp followed by his address to All Ranks and All Ranks Lunch at Indoor stadium in Army Headquarters.
