SRI LANKA SIGNALS CORPS - 7TH REGIMENT

The 7th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps raised on 08th Feb 2008 as a reinforcement Regiment with 18 x officers and 525 x other ranks. The history of the Regiment was written in golden letters in the Signal history as the 1st reinforcement Signal Regiment which was directly involved in infantry role in Humanitarian Operations. From 08th Feb 2008, soldiers of the Regiment worked with lot of dedications and faced uncountable challenges.

The Regiment directly contributed in Humanitarian Operations under 57 Division and Task Force II, and performed the infantry tasks effectively with other infantry battalion in front line. Operation launched to rescue Udayarkattikulam tank was a memorable juncture of the history of the Regiment. Troops of 7 SLSC fought bravely and rescued the tank from the LTTE hold. After completing of commendable 1 year service in 573 Brigade, Regiment was placed under command to Task Force II, deployed in Dharmapuram and later in Ampakamam.

The 7 SLSC (Rft) Regiment and 8 SLSC (Rft) Regiment amalgamated in 01st April 2012, opening a new page in the history of Sri Lanka Army Signal Corps. The unit started its training just after the amalgamation at Battalion training School Mulankavil. After the training, Regiment was placed under command to 652 Brigade and performed duties covering 160 square km in Uyilankulam area.

On 10 Feb 2013, Battalion shifted from Uyilankulam to Diyathalawa and converted to perform classic Signal duties in Security Force Headquarters (Centre) & Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) from its Rft role with 10 x Officers and 727 Other Ranks It is also a remarkable juncture of the Regiment, since 7 SLSC (Rft) Regiment the first Rft Signal Regiment which converted from Rft role to classic role.
