SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS SNCOS EXCEL AT INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR LEADERSHIP COURSE IN INDIA

Two Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) from the Sri Lanka Signal Corps have distinguished themselves with exceptional performances at the prestigious international military training institute India, bringing great credit to the Sri Lanka Army and as well as Corps of Signals. The Staff Sergeant Wijekumara HPMS and Staff Sergeant Samanthika GG has represented the Corps with distinction at the Junior Leadership and Management Course No 153, held from 11th July to 28th August 2025 at the Junior Leadership Academy in Bareilly, India.

The intensive course was designed to develop the essential qualities of effective junior leaders, with a core objective to build self-confident junior leaders capable of guiding and mentoring their subordinates. The curriculum focused on enhancing leadership, management, tactical skills, and theoretical knowledge.

The Sri Lankan representatives were part of a diverse international cohort that included participants from the Maldives, Nepal, and Kenya. Sri Lanka sent the largest foreign delegation with 20 Other Ranks, underscoring the strong bilateral defence ties between Sri Lanka and India. In a remarkable achievement that highlights the high standard of training within the Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Staff Sergeant S/284245 Wijekumara HPMS excelled across multiple domains, earning the following prestigious awards:

a. Best Article of the Course.

b. Best Second in Order of Merit (Best Second Student).

c. Best Second in Theory.

The participation and success of our SNCOs in such international forums not only provide invaluable individual experience but also foster crucial military-to-military cooperation, strengthening relationships with partner nations. The Sri Lanka Signal Corps congratulates both soldiers on their superb achievements and looks forward to them applying their enhanced skills and knowledge for the benefit of the regiment.
