11TH REGIMENT SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS CELEBRATES ITS 10 ANNIVERSARY

11th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps celebrated its 10th Anniversary on Monday, 21st September 2020 at the Regiment’s premises in Panagoda.

Commencing the Regiment Day’s programme, the unit rendered a ceremonial Guard Turnout to the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel RC Wijekoon USP psc SLSC on his arrival at the main entrance. Then the Commanding Officer laid a Laurel of Flowers before the Regiment’s Monument in respect of those who have fallen in the name of Sri Lanka Signal Corps in bringing much waited rays of peace. Then the Commanding Officer was conferred with the traditional ceremonial parade consist of three squadrons, coincidentally accompanied by the prestigious Signals Brass Band.

The anniversary all ranks lunch was then held at the other ranks Mess, during which the Commanding Officer presented trophies for the winners of Inter Squadron Sport Events appreciated those who bought glory and honour to the regiment during past years. Addressing the troops at the end of the formal lunch, Commanding Officer also emphasized the importance of understanding the role and tasks of the Regiment and responsibility and necessity of becoming technically sound Signallers with professional competency to work efficiently in practical scenarios. He also further stressed upon the requirement of maintaining militarized discipline all the time and creating a synchronized working environment that facilitate to be efficient in all conditions.

Moreover a Blood Donation Campaign took place on 14th September 2020.Furthermore 11 SLSC arranged a Pirith chanting at the Regimental premises inorder to give away blessings to the Regiment for its future prospect and on 17th September 2020 alms giving took place for “Sanda Sewana” Elders’ Home at Hanwella which included a entertainment programme for the elders. Oficers and Other Ranks of 11 SLSC(IT) donated valuable gifts to these elders terminating the days programme.
