5TH SIGNAL REGIMENT CELEBRATED ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY

5th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps proudly celebrated its 25th Anniversary on 02nd January 2019 at the Regiment’s premises in Menerigama, Padukka. The Commanding Officer and All Ranks of the unit conducted several religious programmes to commemorate all war heroes who were sacrificed their lives for the motherland and who got disabled during the past 25 years.

The overnight Pirith Chanting ceremony was conducted in the evening on 30th December 2018 followed by an almsgiving. The event started in the evening with a colorful cultural procession presented by troops of the unit that accompanied Buddhist Priests to start the overnight Pirith Chanting observance. These religious customs were held in line with series of events organized to celebrate the 25th Anniversary.

On 02nd January 2019 the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel P H N Chandrasekara was awarded Guard Turnout and Ceremonial Parade at the Regiment’s Parade Square that was followed by the other customary deeds of the military traditions such as planting of sapling and All Ranks Lunch.

5th Signal Regiment also hosted an All Ranks Get Together with the participation of all past Commanding Officers, retired Officers and retired RSMs of the unit on 11th January 2019. This event facilitated both retired and serving officers to share their good old memories and astonishing experiences about their tremendous past. This event became more colorful with the grand Musical Show and fireworks organized in line. The Regiment’s musical band “variations” conducted the musical and entertainment session till midnight with their fantastic performances and terminated the event.
