MCIP CONCLUDED WITH HIGH REMARKS

The Planning Staff Workshop - 3 (PSW - 3) of the Multinational Communications Interoperability Programme (MCIP) led by the United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) was concluded in the afternoon on Friday, 2nd June 2017. The entire workshop was progressed from 29th May to 2nd June 2017 at Hotel Hilton Colombo as a part of the Pacific Endeavor 2017 of the USPACOM. This was conducted in Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence Sri Lanka and with the Sri Lanka Army whereas around 50 delegates, including 39 foreign military officers from 17 countries participated the PSW. The intact programme was proficiently planned and conducted with the blessings of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crisanthe De Silva, brought to the successful conclusion during the Closing Ceremony graced by Major General N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP USP psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army as the Chief Guest. At the beginning of the Closing Ceremony, the Chief Guest was received and conducted to the ceremony by Major General B H M A Wijesinghe USP ndu psc, the Colonel Commandant Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) and the Chief Signal Officer (CSO) of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel James McCallister of the USPACOM. During his Closing Remarks, the Chief Guest stressed upon the validity of the communication interoperability to typically synchronize the joint effort of military partners who usually launch into any disastrous situation first at the face of mushrooming status of vivid forms of non-traditional security issues happening around the world. The giving-away of certificates and MCIP mementoes to the participants was then staged with the participation of the Chief Guest, CSO and Colonel McCallister that followed by the final gathering of all at the Tea Lounge. Representatives from Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, France, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Tonga and USA passionately made their comments on the PSW – 3 as a successful conclusion of an international event that conducted commendably amidst the greatest hospitality of Sri Lankan in a rich cultural serene.
