TROOPS BID FAREWELL FOR RETIRING CHIEF OF STAFF AND THEIR COLONEL COMMANDANT AT SLSC REGIMENTAL CENTRE

Major General DAPN Dematanpitiya ndu psc , the retiring 56th Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army and the 13th Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Signal Corps received a customary farewell on 14 January 2021 at SLSC Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda before he relinquishes his duties after an unblemished service of more than 35 years.

Major General DAPN Dematanpitiya ndu psc in conformity with military traditions was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Colonel GGA Gunasekara USP and accorded a Guard Turnout on his arrival at the main entrance of RHQ SLSC.

Afterwards, he laid a floral wreath at the War Heroes’ monument in remembrance of fallen War Heroes. Subsequently, he was honoured in a Guard of Honour which was followed by a tea party held in Officers’ Mess.

Then, he addressed all troops of units on a live webcast and later he addressed all officers. After the officers address, Colonel Commandant was presented with a souvenir in appreciation of his reputed service, rendered to the Regiment.

Later all Officers and Other Ranks in a moving gesture, honoured him in a street line farewell as his vehicle began to move out of the Regimental Centre premises.

The formalities were culminated with a formal dinner night, hosted by Officers at the Regimental Officers’ Mess.
