Training Day and Diners’ Club for Officers of the Sri Lanka Signals Corps held on 25 June 2025

Under the esteemed patronage of Major General GLSW Liyanage USP nps psc, Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps, the Officers’ Training Day for the second quarter of 2025 was successfully conducted on 25 June 2025 at the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Panagoda. 115 officers participated in the event.

The day commenced with a special Fat Burning Workout Session, conducted at the playground by instructors from the Army Physical Training School. Following this, a sword drill parade was conducted at the parade ground to refresh the officers' sword drill skills.

Subsequently, a guest lecture on “System Security” was conducted by Mr. Sampath Wimalaweera, network security engineer from Fortinet Cyber Security and Network Security Company, broadening the officers’ knowledge on Cyber and Network Security. This was followed by another fruitful lecture on the “Operational Technology Security” presented by LCdr HPMY Hewawasam, cyber security engineer from Ministry of Defence. The session emphasized the importance of understanding the operational technology application and its use in the critical infrastructures in the government as well as in the military. After the session, 2 Signal Brigade Commander presented them with tokens of appreciation for their valuable contribution in the Officers’ Training Day program.

In the evening, cricket and basketball tournament was organized to foster camaraderie, team spirit, and unity among the officers. The day concluded with the Diners’ Club at the Regimental Officers’ Mess, Panagoda starting at 1900 hrs. At the invitation of the Colonel Commandant, Dr. Manodha Gamage, renowned engineer and intellect who is the Advisor to the Ministry of Digital Economy, graced the event as the guest speaker. Dr. Gamage delivered an engaging and insightful lecture on "The Digital Economy Blueprint of Sri Lanka”. The session was a resounding success, featuring an interactive Q&A segment and enthusiastic participation from 115 Signal Officers, including senior officers and those on extra-regimental employment.

At the conclusion of the session, the Chief Signal Officer and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps expressed his appreciation for Dr. Manodha Gamage and presented him with a token of appreciation for his valuable contribution.
