Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) hosted a reception and felicitated the recently-promoted Maj Gen G C V Fernando ndc on 08th July 2025 at the Regimental Headquarters.
The Centre Commandant Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Brig R C Wijekoon USP psc, warmly received the day's Chief Guest on arrival and a subsequent Guard Turnout at the entrance greeted him in accordance with military formalities.
Giving pride of place to the memory of all fallen SLSC War Heroes, Major General Varuna Fernando laid a floral wreath at the SLSC War Heroes' monument and paid his tribute in a solemn ceremony.
Later, the Parade Commander invited the day's protagonist to review the Guard of Honour, accorded in his honour and receive the salute from the special dais before posing a group photograph.
y Later on, during the tea part Major General G C V Fernando ndc took time off to share a few thoughts with officers who were at the Officers’ Mess. Subsequently, Major General Varuna Fernando paid a courtesy call to the Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps Major General G L S W Liyanage USP nps psc at the Colonel Commandant’s Office.
Before concluding the day’s itinerary, Major General G C V Fernando ndc joined for a lunch with all officers at the Officers’ Mess and presented a memento as reciprocation to the Corps of Signal.
