SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS CELEBRATS SINHALA & TAMIL NEW YEAR 2016 IN HIGH SPIRIT
\'Bak Maha Ulela 2016\' (New Year Festival) organized by Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) was held on Saturday 23 April 2016 amidst a gathering of Senior Officers of SLSC, Signals Seva Vanitha members, Disabled War Heroes and members of the corps with their families. \r\n\r\nMajor General K R P Rowel RWP USP ndu psc, Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps and Mrs. Ramya Kumari Rowel, President of Signals Seva Vanitha Branch grace the occasion on the invitation of Regimental Centre, SLSC.\r\n\r\nThe full - day festival comprised of variety of fun-making events and interesting folk games such as bun eating, fancy dress parade, musical chairs, slow movement cycling, tug of war, pillow - fighting, marathon races, eyeing the elephant, pot smashing, cadjan - weaving. The focal point of the day\'s event was the selecting of \'Avurudu Kumari and Avurudu Kumara\' which was attract the attention of the entire audience gathered.\r\n\r\nMost touching and the sensitive event of the festival was the special games arranged for differently - able soldiers who have actively showed their skills. Members of the corps with their families equally enjoyed the event throughout and claimed victory in several games. \r\n\r\nWith the special contribution of Signals Seva Vanitha Branch and collaboration of Regimental Centre SLSC, 5 SLSC, 10 SLSC(CT) and 11 SLSC (IT) units jointly organized the event and ensured the smooth flow of the entire ceremony. A huge gathering of Senior Officers, Other Ranks and well - wishers witnessed the day\'s event. \r\n\r\nAt the end of the \'Bak Maha Ulela 2016\' , the \'Avurudu gifts\' were distributed among the differently able soldiers by the Chairperson and members of Signals Seva Vanitha Branch whilst \'Avurudu gifts\' for the civilian staff presented by the Colonel Commandant.\r\n\r\nWhile the first segment of the \'Avurudu Udawa 2016\' wind up at 1400 hours in the late noon, the entertainment evening organized in order to feel the heat of the beat was kicked off at 7.30 p.m. with the presence of the Colonel Commandant Major General K R P Rowel RWP USP ndu psc. Alongside with the Musical evening, the Raffle Draw 2016 was taken place which was organized by the Regimental Centre SLSC to given away fabulous prizes for its members. The unique musical evening for Signallers was ornamented by the beautiful dancing segments.
