Sri Lanka Signal Corps Athletes Shine at 4th South Asian Senior Athletics Championship 2025

A group of Sri Lanka Signal Corps athletes who represented the nation at the 4th South Asian Senior Athletics Championship 2025 returned to the island on 28 October 2025.

Upon their arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, they were warmly welcomed by Major General Sajith Liyanage USP nps psc, Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps, together with senior military officers and family members.

Competing against top athletes from across the South Asian region, the Sri Lanka Army sportsmen and sportswomen delivered impressive results in various track events, bringing pride to both the Sri Lanka Army and the country. In total, Army athletes won 4 gold, 1 silver and new meet records also.

The exceptional performances by Corps of Signal athletes during the championship are as follows:

Lance Corporal M Y F Safiya, 100 m (Gold medal) - Achieved a new meet record, clocked 11.53 seconds and was emerged as “South Asia’s fastest woman”, 100 m x 4 (Gold medal) - achieved a new meet record, clocked 44.70 seconds, 200 m (Gold medal) - achieved a new meet record, clocked 23.58 seconds.

Lance Corporal D T A De Silva – 100 m (Silver medal), 100 m x 4 (Gold medal) - achieved a new meet record, clocked 44.70 seconds.
