SIGNALS 75TH ANNIVERSARY OFFICERS’ DINNER FASCINATED THE GLAMOUROUS SETTING IN HILTON – COLOMBO

The Corps of Signals dazzlingly held the 75^th Anniversary Officers’ Mess Night at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Hilton, Colombo on 19^th October 2018 with the gathering of around 420 guests consist of both serving and retired Signal Officers and their spouses. Commander of the Army Lt Gen NUMMW Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest together with the charming lady Mrs Chandrika Senanayake.

Military Secretary and the Colonel Commandant Maj Gen BHMA Wijesinghe USP ndu psc together with Chief Signal Officer Maj Gen NM Hettiarachchi USP psc Hdmc and other Senior Signal Officers received the Commander of the Army at the arrival amidst the notes of Fanfare whilst Chairperson of the Signals Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs Arosha Wijesinghe and Signal Ladies warmly welcomed Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, the Chairperson of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, to the event.

The Commander of the Army and the Lady were conducted into the foyer of the Grand Ballroom by Army’s Ceremonial Bag-pipers where the pre-dinner cocktail was held. The celebrations then began cutting the Anniversary Cake together by the Commander and Senior Officers. This occasion also facilitated all retired Senior Signal Officers and Serving Officers to express their good wishes on the specially designed Visitors’ Book of the 75^th Anniversary.

End of the pre-dinner cocktail marked the beginning of the 6 courses Formal Sit-down Dinner followed by Toasts to HE the President and to the Corps of Signals with remarkable speeches by the Colonel Commandant and the Commander of the Army, and the presentation of 75th Anniversary Memento and gift to the Chief Guest and the Lady respectively. At the end of the Dinner, the 75^th Anniversary Volume of “The Signaller” annual journal of the Corps of Signals was presented to the Commander and the retired Senior Signal Officers, the pageant in all added an extreme glamour to this amiable evening.
