The final match of the Army Inter Regiment Rugby Championship was held in grand level at the Racecourse ground on 28 July 2017. It was a hard-hitting and very imperative match for both the teams. SLSC and SLAGSC were very tough and talented teams which met finals in 2015 too.
During the finals, Signallers showed their endowment with no exceptions and was able to manage the team into the challenging track in the first half. For that they scored 3 where as the opponent SLAGSC scored 14. In the 2nd half, Signallers were able to cope up the pressure in the same way and became the Runners Up of the match by 3-26. SLSC Rugby Team scored 3 and SLAGSC scored 26 during this match that made ample of amusement for all the spectators.
This grand finals was organized by the Sri Lanka Army Rugby Committee and Commander of the Army Lt Gen N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP USP psc graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Many serving senior offrs, old Army ruggerites and retired personal witnessed the match.
