The Signal Seva Vanitha Branch donated a completed fully furnished house to a war hero who is totally blind on the V Day 14th Feb 2014

The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Signal donated a completed fully furnished and equipped house to a disabled War Hero of the Corps who is totally blind on the Valentine\'s Day of 14th February 2014. On the invitation of the Chairperson of the Signal Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs Sandamali Abeysekera, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signal, Major General E P De Z Abeysekera USP graced the House Warming Ceremony as the Chief Guest. During this charming ceremony, S/280610 Lance Corporal Nalin Kumara C of 7 SLSC received the key of the house from the Chief Guest. Lance Corporal Nalin Kumara C is with total blindness caused due to a terrorist attack took place on 25th July 2008 in Nochchikulam. A large number of officers and spouses too participated at the ceremony. rnrnIt is worth mentioning here the motive behind the date fixed for the donation ceremony on the Valentine\'s Day, which is obviously a moral and a hopeful story that makes the real meaning of the date. Lance Corporal Nalin Kumara C is presently married and blessed with a son, however he has never seen his loving wife as well as the little kid yet. As an active soldier in the Army, whilst he was performing duties with 7 SLSC (RFT), he had an affair with a girl over the phone. Even though they have not seen each other, when Lance Corporal Nalin Kumara C completely lost his vision due to the injuries of a terrorist attack, the courageous girl dedicatedly took a bravery decision to marry this blind soldier to stay together with him for the rest of her life. Today they are adoring as a family and also propitious with a shelter to live the life ahead. rnrnThe foundation was laid for this project by the Chairperson of the Signal Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs Sandamali Abeysekera on 31st October 2012, on the personal land of the beneficiary located at Waragoda in Thalawa, Anuradhapura. This house is consisting with 2 bedrooms, living and dining areas, a kitchen, a washroom, all furnishers and with fully tiled floor. The total project was completed by spending around Rs 1.3 million from the Signal Seva Vanitha Branch funds and the Corps of Signal rendered the supervision and manpower throughout the project period.
