SIGNAL OFFICERS TRAINING DAY OF THE 2ND QUARTER 2017

Quarterly Training Day of Signal Officers for the 2nd Quarter of the year 2017 was held at the Signal Regimental Centre on 30 June 2017. The programme was assigned to 10 SLSC for its fullest organizing and conducting as directed by the Signal Regimental Centre. A Considerable number of senior officers and officers who are presently serving within the Corps of Signals as well as who are on Extra Regimental Employments enthusiastically participated the whole day programme. The training programme started with officers' Physical Training session at 0600 hrs in the morning that followed the group breakfast at the Officers\' Mess.

Lecturing sessions of the day started at 0900 hrs at the Main Conference Hall of Signal Regimental Centre. The first lecture presentation on \'Robotics\' was dynamically delivered by Professor Rohan Munasinghe, Head of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication, Moratuwa University of Sri Lanka. At the end of the session, Col Commandant of the Corps of Signals and Chief Signals Officer, Maj Gen B H M A Wijesinghe USP ndu psc appreciated the altruistic contribution of the resource person and presented him a plaque of the Corps of Signals to mark the soundness of the event.

The second lecture presentation on \'Visible Light Communication - Pathway to Li-fi\' was conducted by CO 10 SLSC, Lt Col K V P Dhammika USP and Capt W A D L Gunawardane SLSC. During this session, the basics of theoretical and practical application of the Li-fi was emphasized and also demonstrated the possible way of passing data through the light waves.

After the officers\' collective recreations held in the evening, as the last event of the day, the Diners\' Club was held at the Signal Regimental Officers\' Mess from 1930 hrs onward. Amidst a large gathering of Signal officers, Dr K V C Janaka, Consultant Physician of Jayawardanapura General Hospital, addressed the audience by delivering an educative speech on \'How to Prevent from Strokes and Heart Attacks?\' that grabbed the attention of the crowd in their obtainable health concerns.
