THE NEWLY APPOINTED CENTRE COMMANDANT ASSUMES OFFICE

Brigadier TS Liyanagunawardana assumed duties as the 23rd Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps on 25th July 2024 at Signal Regimental Centre, Panagoda.

The Deputy Centre Commandant Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Colonel PHN Chandrasekara, warmly received the incoming Centre Commandant upon his arrival and a subsequent Guard Turnout at the entrance greeted him in accordance with military formalities.

Giving pride of place to the memory of all fallen SLSC War Heroes, Brigadier Shaluka Liyanagunawardana laid a floral wreath at the SLSC War Heroes' monument and paid his tribute in a solemn ceremony.

Later, the Parade Commander invited the day's protagonist to review the Ceremonial Parade, accorded in his honour and receive the salute from the special dais.

Next, the newly appointed Centre Commandant symbolically placed his signature on an official document to mark the assuming of duties, amidst religious observances at his office.

Subsequently, setting out his scope of work and duties, Brigadier Shaluka Liyanagunawardana addressed troops serving in the Regimental Center and urged them to work with commitment and high standards of discipline. After posing a group photograph with the Regimental Centre Staff to add much more memories to the day, the senior officer attended an all ranks' tea at the ORs' mess, where he made a brief interaction with the participants.

Finally, the newly appointed Centre Commandant took his time off to address all officers, serving at the Regimental Centre. Senior Officers/Officers and Other Ranks of Sri Lanka Signal Corps witnessed the series of ceremonials.

Brigadier Shaluka Liyanagunawardana before being appointed to his new appointment, served as the Director (overlooking) at the Directorate of Real Estate & Quartering at Army Headquarters.
