NEW CHIEF SIGNAL OFFICER TAKES OFFICE

Major General N M Hettiarachchi USP psc Hdmc assumed his new office as the Chief Signal Officer (CSO) on 23rd April 2018 during a brief ceremony rich with military formalities held at the Headquarters Chief Signal Officer (HQ CSO) in Panagoda.

In the morning hours, the new CSO in his new office signed an official document at the auspicious time and signified the acceptance of duties, amidst the religious rituals and Blessings of Buddhist monks. Then the troops of HQ CSO greeted new CSO in a Guard Turnout held at the entrance to the premises of the Corps of Signals that was followed by a troops address, staff-tea and briefing by the Staff Officers at the HQ CSO.

Commander Signal Brigade, Director IT, Regimental Centre Commandant and many other Senior Signal Officers were present at the ceremony to welcome new CSO in his office.

Major General N M Hettiarachchi is an Alumnae of the Ananda College, Colombo who joined the Sri Lanka Army on 06th June 1985 as an Officer Cadet of Intake 21. After his basic military training from the Pakistan Military Academy, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 25th January 1986 and was posted into the prestigious Corps of Signals. During his tour of duty up to date, he served the Corps of Signals and to the Army in numerous Command, Staff and Instructional appointments in different areas of the country displaying a high degree of professionalism and utmost commitment in discharging duties and responsibilities entrusted to him.

Major General N M Hettiarachchi was the Commander of the Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) before he assumed duties at the new office.
