MORE EVENTS TO MARK 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS

The Corps of Signals awarded the Anniversary Guard Turnout and the Ceremonial Parade to the Colonel Commandant followed by the traditional All Ranks Lunch that were held on 19 October 2023 in line with the 80th Anniversary Celebrations. The formal procedures commenced with the Guard Turnout and the effusive ceremonial parade.

The Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals, Major General KAWS Ratnayake ndu was received by Signal Regimental Centre Commandant Brigadier AKD Adikari USP at the main entrance to the Signal Regimental Premises in Panagoda where the troops accorded him the ceremonial Guard Turnout. Then the Colonel Commandant walked up along the main avenue to the Regimental Parade Square and reviewed the historical Regimental Parade of the 80th Anniversary of the Corps of Signals while Regimental Centre Commandant marched along with. The parade was commanded by the Commanding Officer 3rd Regiment SLSC, Lt Col U LCD Perera psc SLSC.

Subsequently, All Ranks Lunch, followed by a trophy awarding ceremony for top achievers in sports and for the best unit of the Corps was held with the participation of Colonel Commandant, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks representing all the Signals establishments. All championship winners from inter unit games in 2023 were awarded with respective trophies. 9 SLSC adjudged the best unit award out of 11 units of Sri Lanka Signal Corps. meanwhile, WO 2 Keerthirathna KIS, who set a world record by walking from point of pedro to point of dondra was also felicitated during the ceremony. The event also spared time to appraise the service rendered by the Regimental fatigue team and civil servants by awarding certificates. Later in the evening a customary Mess Night with the participation of 200 officers was held at the Regimental Officers' Mess, Panagoda.
