Sri Lanka Signal Corps marked a historical success by becoming both Men and Women Champions at the end of the first ever Inter Regiment and Injured War Heroes Chess Championship of the Sri Lanka Army.
The prize giving of the Championship 2018 was held at the Defense Services College Colombo on 05 January 2018. Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army Major General K A D A Karunasekera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc graced the prize giving as the Chief Guest and many Senior Officers were invited to witness the closing ceremony.
23 Offrs and 118 ORs representing 19 Regiments, Abhimansala I, II, III and Ranaviru Sevana Ragama competed in the tournament. Injured War Heroes Tournament was inaugurated at Abimansla III - Kurunegala on 29 December 2017 and Inter Regiment Men's and Women's Tournaments were held at the Signals Regimental Auditorium from 02 to 04 January 2018.
As the final results of the tournament Signallers secured the Shields for Men's Championship and Women’s Championship while seizing the following individual trophies:
