The 73rd Anniversary celebrations of the Corps of Signals commenced with the inauguration of the Buddhist Contemplation Shrine held in the early morning on 15 October 2016, Full Moon Poya Day at the Signals Regimental Centre premises. Identifying the requirement of inculcating and maintaining a higher state of spiritual and moral values that are required for peaceful thoughts and minds to preserve both physical and mental discipline in all members, Corps of Signals completely uplifted its old Buddhist Shrine \"Budhu Madura\" into a new Buddhist Contemplation Shrine. Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals Maj Gen KRP Rowel RWP USP ndu psc unveiled the inauguration plaque and the new \"Samadhi Buddha Statue\" at the auspicious time of 0556 hrs in a milky pious milieu while Buddhist priests were offering the Blessings of the Noble Triple Gems. This astonishing occasion was graced by many Senior Officers, Officers, Senior Non Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks of Corps.
This new Buddhist Contemplation Shrine of the Corps of Signals is a unique creation designed by renowned Architect Mr Denis Fernando based on the aesthetic concept and throughout guidance of Colonel Commandant. The unyielding construction of this Shrine was completely done by the willingly participated Officers, skilled Other Ranks of the Corps of Signals and the philanthropic contribution of Buddhist donors.
