COLONEL COMMANDANT VISITS SCHOOL OF SIGNALS, KANDY

The official visit of the Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Major General K R P Rowel RWP USP ndu psc to the School of Signals was took place on 17 September 2015. The Commandant, School of Signals, Colonel KAWS Rathnayake warmly welcomed the Colonel Commandant ceremonially and thereafter, in order to mark this visit Colonel Commandant planted a \'Mango\' tree at the school premises.\r\n\r\nWith the invitation of the Commandant School of Signals, Colonel Commandant ceremonially opened the newly constructed Gymnasium and the facility complex, which includes a Theater, a Barber salon and a Tailor shop. Subsequent to this event, Colonel Commandant addressed all ranks present including permanent staff members, Instructors and the students who are undergoing training. Finally, appreciating Colonel Commandant\'s presence, Commandant and all ranks presented a memento as a token of appreciation\r\n\r\nAs per the event line up, Colonel Commandant unveiled the opening plaque of the Signals Museum. The unique Signal Museum was named after the first Commandant of the 1 Ceylon Signal Corps, Lt Col DV Brohier who commanded the unit from 1958 to 1962. The Signal Museum carefully designed to depict the evolution of communication during the passage of time commencing from 1950 to date. Soon after the event, all ranks were opt an opportunity to interact with the Colonel Commandant during the tea.\r\n\r\nColonel Commandant didn\'t forget to visit the facilities and the training areas of the school during his short stay at the school of Signals. Thereafter, the Commandant, School of Signals briefed about the outline organization of the institute and the training conducted by the School. Subsequent to the briefing Colonel Commandant left his remarks in the Visitors\' Book, to mark his official visit to the School of Signals. This visit was come to an end with a visit to Maberiyatenna training area where 5 SLSC is conducting its Battalion Training at present.
