THE COLONEL COMMANDANT MADE HIS FIRST VISIT TO SCHOOL OF SIGNALS

After assuming his new office, the 10th Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and the 16th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps Major General KAWS Ratnayake ndu made his first official visit to School of Signals on 24 March 2023. He was warmly welcomed by the Commandant - School of Signals and accorded a Guard Turnout at the entrance as a formal military tradition. Further, a glamorous guard of honour was offered by the School of Signals in order to mark his inaugural visit as the Chief Signal Officer and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps. According to the itinerary, he planted a Mango sapling at the camp premises before he posed for a photograph with all the staff of the School of Signals.

Subsequently, the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps addressed the troops gathered in the Mercury Hall. He elaborated on the requirement of having multidimensional training to upgrade the knowledge and multi skills to meet the challenges of signallers in contemporary and future battle environments. Further, he stressed upon the military and personal discipline of the soldiers and its impact on their personal life, Corps of Signals and the whole Army. Finally, he advised on correct use of social media, present financial crisis, situational awareness and remedial actions. Afterwards, The Commandant School of Signals presented a memento to the Major General KAWS Ratnayake ndu in order to mark his official visit to School of Signals.

Before enjoying a tea with the all ranks, he made a camp visit to monitor training and infrastructure facilities available in School of Signals and gave guidance for progressive improvements.

Senior officers, officers, permanent staff of the School of Signals and a cross-section of trainees representing several ongoing courses were present at the occasion.
