In a remarkable innovative gesture, the Sri Lanka Army’s Directorate of Information Technology (DIT) on the directions given by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army developed a new software solution to the Sri Lanka Customs in order to further facilitate their digitalization process on Wednesday (20).
A group of software engineers of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) worked collectively and developed the software solution, named ‘E-Memo System’ after a request for innovation of this solution was extended to the software engineers of the SLSC through the Commander of the Army.
The simple commissioning ceremony of the new solution took place on Wednesday (20) in the presence of several officers, including Director General Customs Major General (Retd) Vijitha Ravipriya, Director, Information Technology, Brigadier Sajith Liyanage, officials and data operators.
The Sri Lanka Customs, now fully geared to accelerate its digitalization process considering it as a national priority, in order to cut down its colossal expenditure of Rs 22 million on office stationery at least by 50% aims to use these software solution for data storage and quick functional aspects.
