71st Anniversary Celebrations of the Corps of Signals Ended up with a High Note..!

The Sri Lanka Signal Corps concluded its 71st Anniversary Celebration with the Officers Dinner at the Regimental Officers Mess Panagoda on 14 November 2014. The most significant gathering of the year with all Signallers including senior retired officers held in a grand scale at the Officers\' Mess premises. The Chief of Staff and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps Maj Gen SAPP Samarasinghe RSP USP psc has graced the occasion as the chief guest. Prior to the Anniversary Dinner Colonel Commandant has unveiled newly built fully fledged Regimental Gymnasium, which was a much awaited event for all Signal sportsmen and women. This was commissioned in respect of all Signallers those who brought laurels to the Corps of Signals in all sports disciplines. The opening ceremonies were further extended by the opening of the Welfare Facility Complex by the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps which included amenities like canteen, salon, tailor shop and a welfare family shop. The evening of 14 November 2014 was another busy day for the Colonel Commandant. Opening of new Signal Base Workshop Headquarter building was the next aligned event for him. State of the art two story building was built within a short span of time and it\'s still stands as an evidence for the skills and talents of all Signallers those who toil sweat throughout day and night to complete this master piece within the time line. At last Colonel Commandant didn\'t forget to visit the Warrant Officers\' and Sergeant Mess even under the extreme weather in order to house warming of new Warrant Officers\' and Sergeant Mess building. This concludes the days programme and year 2014 will be written in golden letters in the history of signals as the year of \'constructions and achievements\'. Sri Lanka Signal Corps is very much fortunate to have two strong pillars to shoulder this mega projects along with the forward march of the Corps. The Chief of Staff and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps Maj Gen SAPP Samarasinghe RSP USP psc and the Chief Signal Officer Maj Gen KRP Rowel RWP USP ndu psc are the two guiding lights always foresee the future requirements and gathering momentum to meet them at the ideal time for Signallers to be in one step ahead of others.
