3 SLSC BADE FAREWELL TO THE COLONEL COMMANDANT OF THE CORPS OF SIGNALS

3rd Signal Regiment bade farewell to the present Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals Major General Nilantha Hettiarachchi VSV USP psc Hdmc on 12th February 2020 at the Regiment Headquarters at Palaly Army Cantonment.

Upon the escorted arrival at the Main Entrance of the Regiment, Commanding Officer 3rd Signal Regiment Lieutenant Colonel NPA Mendis psc SLSC received the Colonel Commandant and awarded the traditional ceremonial Guard Turnout of the unit. Then he was guided to the Regiment’s temple for a brief religious observance as the same Bo Tree, which is an extracted branch of Sri Maha Bodhiya in Anuradhapura was planted when he was the Commanding Officer of 4th Signal Regiment in the same premises.

Then the Colonel Commandant paid a visit to the Commanding Officer’s Office and also planted a sapling in front of the Regiment Headquarters to mark his final visit to 3rd Signal Regiment that was followed by the Troops Address.

After the welcome and farewell speech by the Commanding Officer, Colonel Commandant delivered his concluding formal Troops Address to the troops of 3rd Signal Regiment. During the speech, Colonel Commandant emphasized the necessity of proper soldiering with physical robustness, discipline and good conduct and validity of the professional accomplishment and career progression in the Army. In the same venue, Commanding Officer presented the Plaque of Honour of the Regiment and a souvenir to the Colonel Commandant in appreciation of his instrumental service rendered to the Regiment during his tour of duty that was followed by the All Ranks Tea at the Other Ranks Mess.

Finally, Colonel Commandant together with Chairperson of the Signals Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs Keshini Hettiarachchi attended the Staff Lunch hosted at the Regiment’s Officers Mess where both of them penned their thoughts in the Visitors’ Book prior to departure.
