3 RD REGIMENT SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS INAUGURATES NEWLY CONSTRUCTED FACILITY COMPLEX DURING THE FINAL OFFICIAL VISIT OF COLONEL COMMANDANT

The inauguration of newly-constructed multi-purpose facility complex erected by troops of 3rd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps was vested in the military community on 28th May during a brief ceremony, graced by Major General PAJ Peiris ndu Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signals Corps on the invitation of Lieutenant Colonel HADW Hettiarachchi USP psc Commanding Officer 3rd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps.

The brainchild of Lieutenant Colonel Dhammika Hettiarachchi saw its fruition by using the technically competent manpower of 3rd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps with the blessings and direct supervision by Major General Ashoka Peiris, Colonel Commandant together with Brigadier Sudantha Fonseka, Regimental Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps. Facility complex consists of welfare shop, tailoring facility, salon and open-air cafeteria.

The day’s warming ceremony got to a start with the arrival of Colonel Commandant, who was honored in a formal Guard turnout at the main entrance, after Commanding Officer warmly received Major General Ashoka Peiris and escorted to the 3rd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps War Heroes’ monument in remembrance of fallen War Heroes to lay floral wreath to salute the memory of fallenWar Heroes.

During the final official visit, Colonel Commandant was invited to leave memories by planting a sapling in front of the Regimental Headquarters building. Subsequently, Colonel Commandant was invited to declare open new Facility Complex building by cutting the ribbon and unveiling of plaques. The day’s ceremony came to an end with a troops address. Whilst addressing the gathering Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signals Corps, Major General Ashoka Peiris recollected the immense contribution of 3 3rd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps servicemen while bridging the communication aspects of the humanitarian operations.
