The 2022 Inter Regiment Carrom Championship was held from 21st to 25th March 2022 at Signal Regimental Centre premises and prize awarding ceremony held at Army physical training school – Panagoda. Players from sixteen regiments had competed in the tournament.
The awarding ceremony was graced by Major General Asoka Peris, Chief signal Officer and Colonel Commandant of the Signal Regiment as the Chief Guest.
Director Sport Brigadier Nalin Bandaranayake along with many senior officers, congratulated them for their achievements. The chief guest and other senior officers joined the distribution of trophies and certificates to the winners.
During the Men’s Championship, VIR Carrom Team emerged as Champions of the tournament defeating the SLSR in the finals whilst SLAWC became the Champions of Women’s Event and SLSC became the Women’s Runners Up.
Rfm Mufeez W M of SLSR and Pte Gunadasa of SLAWC were the best players in men’s category and in women’s category respectively. Pte Rathnayake R M S (SLASC) was awarded as the best player in Veterans Category.
SLAWC became the Champions of Women’s Event.
SLSC became the Women’s Runners Up.
VIR Carrom Team emerged as Champions.
SLSR became the Runners Up in the Men’s Team event.
