Following the long standing traditions of the Sri Lanka Army, the Security Force Headquarters (West) held a special All Ranks Tea on 16 Apr 2026. The event was organized to celebrate the Sinhala and Hindu New Year.
The celebration took place at the headquarters under the direction of the Commander, SFHQ (West). The goal was to keep traditional customs and build a stronger sense of friendship among all military personnel. The event brought together a large number of personnel, showing the unity and discipline of the headquarters. The Commander attended the tea along with Senior Officers, Officers, RSM and Other Ranks.
During the tea, soldiers of all ranks had the chance to talk freely in a relaxed setting. They enjoyed traditional New Year food and exchanged greetings.
The New Year is a time for giving, and the SFHQ (West) made sure to include its civilian employees in the festivities. On the instructions of the Commander, all civilian staff members were given valuable gift packs. This was done to thank them for their hard work and dedicated service to the Army. By supporting the welfare of the civilian staff the headquarters showed that every member of the team is valued.
During his address, the Commander highlighted the importance of strengthening the bond between leaders and their subordinates. He noted that events like this are vital for keeping the spirit of the Army high and ensuring that everyone continues to work together as one professional team.
