Troops of the 8th Battalion of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under the 57 Infantry Division promptly responded to a sudden fire that erupted at Nilwakka in the Attikka area, within the Puwakdeniya GN Division, on 12 May 2026.
Upon receiving information regarding the incident, a team consisting of 01 Officer and 15 Other Ranks from the 8th Battalion of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment was immediately deployed to the location to assist in the firefighting efforts. The troops swiftly reached the site and worked in close coordination with the relevant authorities to contain the rapidly spreading flames.
With the support of local residents who had already taken initial measures to control the fire, the troops managed to successfully bring the situation under control and completely extinguish the fire. Their timely intervention prevented the flames from spreading to nearby areas, thereby minimizing potential damage to surrounding properties and the environment.
The prompt response and dedicated efforts of the troops once again highlighted the unwavering commitment of the Sri Lanka Army in supporting civil authorities and safeguarding the safety and wellbeing of the public during emergency situations.
