Colonel WGIS Gamage USP assumed duties as the 13th Commander of 572 Infantry Brigade on 10 February 2025 at the Brigade Headquarters Balangoda in a formal and dignified ceremony.
The newly appointed Commander was warmly welcomed by the Brigade Staff Officers, Commanding Officers of 11 Gemunu Watch and 18 Sri Lanka National Guard at the Main entrance of the Brigade Headquarters.
Thereafter, he was honoured with a formal guard turnout on his arrival to the main entrance of the Brigade Headquarters and then the assumption of his office was signified upon signing an official document amidst religious blessings. Subsequently, the Brigade Commander planted a sapling at the Brigade Headquarters’ premises to mark the occasion and it was followed by a formal troops address, in his address he emphasized on his vision and intention of achieving the organizational goals as a unified team.
The day’s event concluded with an All Ranks tea where the Brigade Commander interacted with all those who were present at the occasion which fostered the camaraderie and unity among all ranks. Commanding Officers of under command battalions and a gathering of Other Ranks participated for this program.
