Under the direction of the Commander of the Army, with instructions from the Commander Security Force (West) and under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division, the 144 Infantry Brigade conducted a large-scale cleaning programme on 15 February 2025. The program covered Polduwa Road, Parliament Road, Sri Lanka-Japan Friendship Road, the Thurumithiru Project area, and Diyawanna Lake, demonstrating a strong commitment to supporting the government Clean Sri Lanka Program.
The Hon. Deputy Minister of Industries and Commerce, Chathuru Abeysinghe, and the Serjeant-at-Arms of Parliament Mr. Kushan Jayaratne, attended the inauguration ceremony, along with representatives from various government and non-governmental organizations.
The programme saw participation from 06 X 127 Sri Lanka Army personnel, 01 X 30 Sri Lanka Navy personnel, 01 X 25 Sri Lanka Air Force personnel, 07 Sri Lanka Police officers, 01 X 05 Special Task Force members, and 07 members of the Civil Defence Force.
Additionally, around 170 members from the National Auditor General Department, Department of Registration of Persons, Parliament staff, Road Development Authority, Department of Immigration and Emigration, Urban Development Authority, Office of the Public Health Medical Officer, Department of Census and Statistics, Kaduwela and Kotte Municipal Councils, Divisional Secretariat Kotte, and staff from Waters Edge Hotel also contributed to this initiative.
